Maybe being a mom is suppose to change you, forever.

I have been a mom for over 13 months (longer if you count the 9 months of pregnancy) and I've always recognized what a miracle it is to grow a child inside of you and it's another miracle to give birth!

Until this past weekend, feeling the very first flutters inside of me from baby number two, I never truly realized just how spectacular that is!

What a miracle! What a creative, amazing, life-giving God we serve!

Whenever you're having a rough day, chasing a toddler around or trying to calmly convince your 10 month old to stop screaming, remember that the God who holds the universe, also holds you. He also holds that precious child that you know and love, even when he is acting ridiculous.

Maybe being a mom helps me to see My God in a bigger, more real way!

I don't even have to go into detail about how incredible it is that my body produces milk…the exact source of life that my child needs from the moment he is born!

Before being a mom, I was just a woman who had breasts and a uterus.

Now, as a mom, I'm a woman with a food source and a baby growing machine!

And I have learned how important it is to take care of my precious body, so I can live long to see them grow up, and feed them and teach them!

Maybe being a mom helps me to realize the importance of how intricately God designed our bodies!

What's even crazier…is how much I love my little boy, and little baby on the way. But even though I can't even comprehend how to love something more…I know God loves us even more than that!

Can you wrap your mind around that?

I cannot. I just can't.

I'd give up my life for my kids, I'd take their place if something tragic happened to them, or I'd stand in front of a bullet for them, no doubt. And you know what, God loves us even more than that! He sent His only son to die on the cross for us!

I believe firmly in God's word and Jesus' resurrection. As a mom though, I cannot even begin to think about giving up my child to save the world.

That is some serious love right there.

Maybe being a mom has taught me how to be selfless, and more loving. (I know it's taught me how selfless and loving my God is!)

In church last week I was caught off guard by a song called "This is Amazing Grace" and while worshiping God I started sobbing. I had to stop singing just to catch my breath.

"This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You've done for me"

As a matter of fact, every time I read these lyrics of here this song now tears stream down my face.

Maybe being a mom has also made lyrics mean more. (And Jesus' death mean more, too!)

Jesus loves me that much; that he takes my place, He bears my cross, He laid down His life so I could live.

I need to wake up every morning and sing for all that He's done for me!

I'm telling you, being a mom sure changes everything. Your body, your perspective, your attitude, your heart…

And if you've read this far (thank you) and God hasn't made you a mom yet, I urge you to keep the faith. I knew the pain of trying, over and over, and while that time was approaching a year, I decided it wasn't our time yet, and I had to stop worrying. God's plan is greater than my plan. His timing is better than mine. That year grew my relationship with Jesus, and I pray that the painful time of waiting can grow yours, too.

Maybe being a mom is suppose to change you, forever.

  2. Motherhood is incredible! And life changing! One thing I couldn’t wrap my head around is loving my second baby the same as my first. I worried the whole pregnancy which seems so silly now! I didn’t know how it was even possible and even though I of course already loved her, when she came out it was instant and not even a second thought. It’s crazy how your mama heart can hold so much love!

  3. I absolutely love this post! Im praising God for the TRUTH that you share! God’s love and truth is shed all throughout our motherhood journeys and I can honestly admit that I have changed for the better! This post remind me of the blog post I shared on my own blog about how Rylie’s (my daughter’s) life has changed mine! Would love for you to read when you have the time it was one of my first blog posts that I wrote! ❤
