I’m not a new mom, but I’m almost a second-time-around new mom and I’ve learned a few things from the first-time-mom experience!
First off, I’m very dutch, meaning I’m a garage sale shopper and when I go to the store, I only shop the clearance rack. Needlesstosay, Z didn’t have many of the things I felt would have been helpful as a newborn.
Of course, he had all the essentials, thanks to the wonderful family and friends that attended our baby shower! He had his carseat, stroller, bottles, diapers, swaddles, blankets, wipes, clothes, bibs, towels and toys.
But, I’ve compiled a list of things I’ve already got in preparation for baby number two (that I didn’t already have for little z.)
I hope this list can help first time moms find things that will be helpful to them, beyond the essentials (and who knows, these may become essentials, too!
1. DockATot Deluxe
Sorry Z, I wish I had one of these for you. This thing is a beauty, and the new toy arch is so much fun!
We are not a co-sleeping family, as Z was in his crib from the first night home, but I have heard that this is a great co-sleeping item! On top of that, it’s a multi-functional lounger and is perfect for our family with a toddler and two dogs romping around. This is the Deluxe size for newborn-8 months, and the Grand size is for 9-36 months (which is great for toddler bed transitions!)
I’m confident this will be a great addition to our “baby stuff stash”! It’s been tested for breathability, it’s all natural, 100% cotton and handmade in Europe.
You can order yours HERE for $10 OFF! Enjoy.
2. Beluga Baby Carrier Wrap
I can’t tell you enough how many times I wanted to purchase one of these for Z when he was born, but kept passing each day saying, “The carrier I have will do…”
Well, this time, I won’t be saying that, because this beauty is in a drawer waiting for baby two to get here. This wrap is sooooo soft, stretchy and beautiful! Perfect for getting things done and walking around while baby snoozes. From the moment I get home from the hospital, I’ll be wrapping up the baby close to my heart. I’ll be so much more than a mom of two, I’ll be a baby-wearing super-mom!
A friend of mine had a beluga wrap and loved it from day one. I enjoy getting products that are tried and true and mom-approved! Here I am…approving this wrap, for you!

3. Essential Oils with Diffuser
I’ve been a fan of essential oils ever since my mom got me a kit a few years ago. Once I got pregnant with Z, I used them almost daily. I have a roller ball with a blend of oils in it that soothe sore breasts and tummy, and I also diffused lavender to calm my mind.
Once Z was born, I diffused a blend of oils in his room every night. Lavender and Gentle Baby to name a few. I believe in these oils. I believe they help get rid of my migraines and stress, and give Z a good nights rest. I plan to have a diffuser in each room of the house, and continue to come up with blends that help my family stay calm, relaxed and healthy. Z is 13 months old and still has yet to get sick once, so I’m going to just keep on keeping on.
I’m not the girl that has gotten rid of all chemical cleaners in my home (well, not yet) but I have transitioned into using Thieves cleaner on every surface, not only because it smells delicious, but because it WORKS! It cleans in a healthy way. No chemicals!
I’m looking forward to creating body scrubs, and autumn blends and using the oils in everyday things (such as oregano on homemade pizza, and a drop of lemon in my water and a couple drops of lime in my guacamole, oh and fresh lavender lemonade!) and using baby safe oil products throughout my children’s lives.

4. LILLEbaby 6-in-1 Complete Organic Baby Carrier
I. AM. SO. EXCITED. ABOUT. THIS. CARRIER.
I had a moby wrap with Z, and an infantimo carrier. Neither one made me go “wow, I love this carrier!” Just opening this Lille Baby made me say “WOW! I love this already!” On top of it being beautiful, soft and organic, it’s been widely reviewed online as the BEST carrier, even beating many competitors including Ergo and Tula.
LILLEbaby has taken the best of all the carriers, multiple carry positions, no infant insert, a flip up/down head support that makes it work from newborn to toddler, adjustable straps on both sides, a rain/wind guard for babe’s head, and a front pocket to store your keys and phone.
It can be used from newborn to 48 months, so I luckily get to use this with Z right now!

5. Binxy Baby Shopping Cart Hammock
Because of an emergency c-section, I was unable to drive for eight weeks after I had Z. And when those 8 weeks were up, it meant I had to go grocery shopping. I called my mom with my anxiety on red-alert because I didn’t have any clue how to tackle a shopping cart and a car seat and a newborn! Luckily, my mom met me at the store and held the baby as I shopped, but if I didn’t have her, I would have lost my mind.
THIS product right here would have been an anxiety saver! You can safely put your newborn in your cart, strap them in, and fit groceries under them! Mom win, for sure. Looking forward to using this!
If you’d like to lower your anxiety level AND save 10% on a binxy for your baby, order one HERE!
6. The Ollie Swaddle
I had some swaddles for Z that he used for the first couple of months, but eventually grew out of them and I never bought more. This swaddle right here seems like it’ll be a sleep saver!
It’s made from custom moisture-wicking material to reduce the risk of overheating. The velcro allows for a custom fit, and there is easy access for midnight diaper changes through the opening at the bottom (mom win, again!) I love that it’s so stretchy and soft, baby two will love it, too!
If you’d like to get some extra sleep with your newborn, and get 10% off a swaddle, order yours HERE!
*We also found a 4-Moms Mama-Roo on a garage sale site from a friend, and I can’t wait to use it with baby two, too!
